section D there is a repetition of material from section B in the piano. Section C repeats again in the piano from mm. 21-24 while the viola rests. Measures 24-34 repeat the material from mm.10-20 but swapped to different voices. The entire viola section A repeats in retrograde from mm. 34-53 while the piano repeats section B, hands reversed from mm. 35-41. New material presents in section E from mm. 41-50. The end of the movement

recalls material from various places in all voices.

Conclusion The three composers Marion Bauer, Miriam Gideon, and Vivian Fine and their works for viola and piano are truly benchmarks for the American development of two trends: the gradual acceptance and prosperity of the woman composer and the evolution in women’s usage
