I n January of 1992. vio1i t C aba Erde1yi returned to hi native 11un gary for a concert to be broadcast Ji, e from the Budape 1 Opera. " It was a double premiere." says Erdelyi. "I pent ten year restoring Bartok's viola concerto from his origi nal manuscript, and thi wa it debut. It was al ·o the first concerto perfor mance for my Jo eph Curt in v1ola. Both were praised highly." Csaba Erdelyi established his pres ence in the music world wnh another first. In 1972 he became the only' iola player ever to win the prestigious arl Fie ch International iolin Competi tion. He went on to erve as principal of the Phil harmonia Orche tra and iolist in the Chilingirian Quartet.
