His many performances of major concenos, the count less recital and concert appearances, and his promotion of the viola d' amore in perfor mance and through his exhaustive research culminating in his book The Viola d'amore (1975, 1979) attest to his position as one of this century's leading violists and one em inently wotthy ofAVS recognition.
