"Four Hymns" for Viola Choir, on ren Womack vio las. The sound of this robust and moving work was warm and inregrared, and the maker was moved ro tears. Violists were Maria Newman, Andrew Ducldes, Jennie Hansen, Pamela Goldsmith, Dan Neufeld, Denyse Buffum, Renita Koven, Kim Wilkins, Marda Todd, and Margot Aldcroft. The ensemble was expertly conducted by corr Hosfeld. The concert also featured a performance of Sramirz's Duet for Two Violas in C, rasrily executed by Pamela Goldsmith and Marlow Fisher; Ernest Bloch's Suire Hebraique, gorgeously ren dered by Victoria Miskolczy with Daniel Lewin on piano; and A Two for One Trio, a captivating work for flute, viola, and harp writ ten by David Walther and performed engagingly by the Debussy Trio.
but the playing was absolutely supreme. Each listened in awe as Roger's playing rook hold of his/her inner soul- everything this man did, his body lan guage, vibrato and non vibraro, rhe sheer rone using rhar great viola that was the instrument ofTerris his whole life, and tech nique....well, it's all there and more if you want! And what a pleasant man ro talk with, so gentle and gracious and very interested in what you have to say or con tribute. Truly, it was a memorable day in Edmond.
