Slapin stud ied composi tion with Richard Lane, whose Fou r Duos recorded here were among his fi nal musical composi tions. Slapin's Nocturne on the disc is ded ica red ro Lane's memory. It shows Scou's great talent not only as a violist but as a composer and his heart fel t affection for Lane. The resr of the disc fea tures viola duos by living American com posers.
