Ralph Fielding The Conservatory of Music at Lynn University proudly announces the addition of Ralph Fielding as artist faculty-v1ola and associate professor. Fielding has served on the viola faculty of the University of Southern California, the Universi ty of California Los Angeles, Texas Tech University, and is on the summer faculty of the Bowdo1n International Music Festival. An active cliniCian, adjudicator and conductor of master classes, he just completed his pres1dency of the American V1ola Society. Fielding specializes 1n quickly get ting players to reach the1r h1ghest potential through combining a singing approach to music-making with s1mpleways to master the basic mechanics of bow control, shifts, stnng cross1ngs and bow changes. Pnor to teaching, he had a long h1story as an orchestral musician, including 16 years as a member of Los Angeles Phi lharmonic Orchestra, where he cha1red the Aud itions Commi ttee. Fielding has s1nce helped students prepare musically and mental ly for the most competitive of performance situations. His orchestral repertoire students have won a number of recent auditions on both violin and viola. He gradua ted cum laude from Yale University with a B.A. and M.M. in Music and an M.B.A. from their School of Management. Fielding and the rest of the Lynn Conservatory of Music's internationally renowned artist-faculty form a nurturing community dedicated to preparing each Individual student for his or her life 1n mus1c.
