The Irving M. Klein String Competition will be held 10-11 June 2000 at San Francisco State University. The competition is for violin, viola, cello, and bass players ages 15-23. Semifinalists will be chosen following a preliminary taped round. Tapes must in clude three contrasting movements, no more
than 10 minutes each, including one Bach movement, one classical, romantic, or major 20th-century concerto, and one 20th-century work. Entries must be postmarked before 15 February 2000. For more information, please call (415) 338-7618.
