Competition (with the Cleveland Quartet), the Geneva Viola Competition (1968) and the Max Reger Award, also in 1968. She was featured at the 1989 Inter national Viola Congress and has performed as soloist with the Orchesrre de Ia Suisse Ro mand and the Mozarreum Orchester. She now teaches at the Shephard School of Music at Rice Universiry.

Alan de Veritch
ALAN DE VERITCH was born in 1947 in New Jersey bur lived most of his life in California. He was co-principal violist in the Los Angeles Philharmonic under Zubin Mehta from 1970-79, where de Veritch also appeared as a soloist. He has recorded hun dreds of sound tracks and recorded for every major record label in the U.S. He has been on the faculties of the California InstitUte of the Arts, California State Universiry, and the Uni versity of Southern California, among others. From 1990-94 he served as president of the American Viola Sociery and also established the De Veritch Insrirute for Viola Srudies. In June 1995, he hosted the XXIII International Viola Congress at Indiana Universiry. He also was the recipient of an award from the Amer ican Viola Sociery for his outstanding achieve ments and personal contributions to the legacy of the viola. De Veritch is now a professor of music and chair of the Suing Department at the School ofMusic at Indiana Universiry.
Yizhak Schotten
YIZHAK SCHOTTEN, born in Israel, was discovered and brought to America by Primrose. Schonen srudied under Primrose at the University of Southern California and In diana University. He has performed as soloist with Seiji Ozawa, Thomas Schippers, Sergio Commissiona, and others and has performed widely in Israel, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, Holland, Ausuia, Mexico , England, Canada and the U.S. H e was a member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and was principal violist in the Cincinnati and Houston Symphony orchestras. Schonen hosted the XIV Inter national Viola Congress at the Universiry of Michigan. He has given master classes in the U.S. and Europe and has made several record ings of viola works by Bloch, Hindemith and others.
