23 The principal manuscript sources for the Bach Cello Suites—the Anna Magdalena Bach (c. 1727–1731), the Johann Peter Kellner (c. 1726), the Johann Christoph Westphal (second half of the eighteenth century), and the “Traeg” MS, named after Johann Traeg, a Viennese music dealer who owned it (late eighteenth century). The above manuscripts plus the Paris first edition (Janet et Cotelle, c.1824) are available from Bärenreiter.
