2024 American Viola Society Festival Artists
Hsiaopei Lee A graduate of Columbia University and the University of Cincinnati, violist Hsiaopei Lee has performed in numerous venues as a soloist, recitalist and orchestra player throughout three continents. Dr. Lee is Professor of Viola at the University of Southern Mississippi, where her excellence in teaching has been recognized by several awards. She is also a recipient of an Artist Fellowship awarded by Mississippi Arts Commission in 2011, 2017 and 2022. A passionate chamber musician, Hsiaopei collaborates extensively in various chamber music settings. Her album, ODYSSEY: Viola Music Written by American Female Namgon Lee Multi-instrumentalist and arranger Namgon Lee is an active performer and arranger specializing in historical performance. As a performer– scholar, Lee has been investigating historically approached arrangements to expand early string literature. Namgon holds a bachelor’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music and a master’s degree from Peabody Institute. Currently, he is a doctoral candidate at McGill University. When he is away from the work desk, Namgon is a passionate home cook and enthusiastic fiddler. Hannah Levinson “Violist Hannah Levinson is an in-demand performer and educator of both contemporary and classical repertoire. She is a founding member and Executive Director of the violin/viola duo andPlay, described as “a four-limbed ensemble of visceral intensity and nonchalant virtuosity” (Peter Margasak). Hannah is also a member of the Talea Ensemble, the Albany Symphony Orchestra, and frequently performs with ensembles including the International Contemporary Ensemble, Either/Or, and counter) induction. Hannah currently serves as Assistant Professor of Viola at Bowling Green State University and was formerly Music Artist Nicholas Lindell Nicholas Lindell studied both violin and viola under Michael Heald and Maggie Snyder at the University of Georgia and is presently pursuing a doctorate at Rice University with Ivo-Jan van der Werff. He served as principal violist and soloist with the National Repertory Orchestra in Breckenridge in 2021 and regularly plays viola with the Houston Symphony and the Houston Grand Opera. A man of many hats, Nicholas also loves composing, arranging, and performing cross-genre styles. He also spent a summer researching classified cryptographic problems for the National Security Agency and has earned a graduate

Sarah Manasreh PoCo Duo
Sarah Manasreh is the Assistant Professor of Clarinet and Music Theory at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point and principal clarinet of the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra and Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra. Sarah is active with the International Clarinet Association serving as editor for The Clarinet [Online]. She is a Backun artist, performing exclusively on Lumiere clarinets. Prior to her appointment at UWSP, she was the Instructor of Clarinet at Alma College and Albion College.
