2024 Primrose International Viola Competition Pre-Screening Jurors

Kimia Hesabi Dr. Kimia Hesabi is a violist, educator, and administrator currently residing in the D.C area. Hesabi is the the Co-Director of Education and Engagement at the National Philharmonic, where she co-creates programs, opportunities, and community initiatives that are centered around artistic, educational, and social impact. Kimia has recently released her album entitled Nemāno Gaona featuring works for viola by composers of the Iranian Diaspora under New Focus Recordings. Hesabi in

collaboration with violinist/kamancheh player/composer Sarvin Hazin, are among the recipients of the Creator Development Fund from New Music USA in 2022 for a project entitled Neera. Gabrielle Padilla Molina Recognized as an Emerging Teacher by the American Viola Society, Dr. Gabrielle Padilla Molina is an Artist-Faculty member at the Omaha Conservatory of Music. She has served as interim viola faculty of Virginia Tech, West Virginia University, and has taught at the Interlochen Arts Camp and the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute. Gabrielle has performed and presented lectures at events such as the 47th International Viola Congress, American Viola Society Festivals, National Flute Association Convention, the 2023 American String Teachers Association

National Conference, and masterclasses at the Nashville Symphony’s Accelerando Program, Puerto Rico Summer Music Festival, Longwood University, and West Virginia University’s Viola Bootcamp. Gabrielle’s studies were at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music, Ball State University with Dr. Katrin Meidell, and West Virginia University where she proudly served as the Graduate Teaching Assistant of Andrea Priester Houde. Gabrielle is a Board Member of the American Viola Society.

Rose Wollman Hailed as “innovative” and “stylish” by the Chicago Classical Review, violist Rose Wollman is sought after as a soloist, chamber musician and teacher. She was the founding violist of the Petar Jankovic Ensemble and the Larchmere String quartet, and recorded albums with both groups. Rose’s solo album LOOP: Ligeti’s Inspiration and Legacy was released by Acis in October 2022 to critical acclaim. Her newly released album Breaking Glass Ceilings: Music by Unruly Women, explores the legacy of American female composers. Rose has performed

with the Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra, the Pacific Music Festival Orchestra, and the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra. She has collaborated with diverse artists, including Atar Arad, Michael Kannen, Jeffrey Dunham, Rachel Barton Pine, Julián Peralta, Pablo Aslan, and Michael Spiro.
